According to popular belief, this pre-match ceremony brings luck, protection, respect and honorable games to both the player. In this sport the boxers wear Mong Kon or a sacred head band and Pra Jiad or a sacred armband that are blessed by a monk to bring luck to the participants.
Muay thai or Thai boxing is not the same as western boxing. It is more than just kicking and punching and includes elbowing and kneeling. Unlike western boxing blows below the belt is also allowed in Bangkok Thai boxing.
